Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a GP referral for private blood tests?
No, you don’t need any referral for our private blood testing services. One of the main advantages of private testing is direct access – you can simply book online or walk into our pharmacy to arrange your test. This means no waiting for GP appointments or having to explain why you want a particular test.
How quickly will I get my results?
Most blood test results are available within 5 days of sample collection. Results are delivered securely through our online portal, and you’ll receive an email notification as soon as they’re ready.
Are private blood tests as accurate as NHS tests?
Absolutely. We use the same UKAS-accredited laboratories that process NHS samples. The quality standards, equipment, and processes are identical. In fact, many of our partner laboratories process both NHS and private samples side by side. The only difference is the speed of service and the range of tests available.
What happens if my results show something abnormal?
If any of your results fall outside the normal range, this will be clearly indicated in your report. We provide documentation you can take to your GP , and provide a copy of results for you to take to your doctor. We’re here to support you throughout your health journey.
Can I use private health insurance for blood tests?
Many private health insurance policies cover diagnostic blood tests, particularly if recommended by a healthcare professional. We can provide detailed receipts suitable for insurance claims. We recommend checking with your insurance provider about coverage before booking, as policies vary significantly.
Is my consultation completely confidential?
Yes, absolutely. All consultations are completely confidential. We follow strict patient confidentiality protocols, and your information is never shared without your explicit consent.
When should I take a testosterone test?
Testosterone levels are highest in the morning, so we recommend booking an early appointment (before 10am) for the most accurate reading. Fasting isn’t required unless your test includes cholesterol or glucose markers.
Can I test for low testosterone on the NHS?
You can, but NHS testing often only covers basic testosterone and has longer waiting times for appointments. Private testing gives you a fuller picture (free testosterone, SHBG, etc.), faster results, and a convenient way to get quick answers.

Whether you're investigating symptoms, monitoring an existing condition, or simply being proactive about your wellbeing, professional blood testing provides the insights you need to make informed health decisions.
